Becoming a Guardian Home is an excellent, low cost way to have a top-quality puppy as a family pet while he or she remains in our program. Because we are a small family run business we do not have; nor do we want a kennel-based program. Since we cannot house all our breeding dogs here at home we are offering the Guardian Home program for our potential breeding dogs. We want our breeding dogs to be raised in caring loving homes as family pets.

Iowa Doodles 2 Love will retain ALL breeding rights. We reserve the right to cancel our guardianship program at any time if we deem it necessary.

When you are chosen to be part of the Iowa Doodles 2 Love Guardian-Home program, you will pay for all normal cost of the care and medical expenses of raising a family pet. Iowa Doodles 2 Love will pay for all reproductive testing for your puppy between ages 12-18 months and anything related to Breeding.

If your dog does not pass its health testing for breeding dogs, you will pay for the spay or neuter of the dog and we will retire the dog from our breeding program and it will remain your family pet, at no additional fee to you.

If your dog does pass its health testing it will become a breeding dog for Iowa Doodles 2 Love. If you have a female she will deliver 4 litters for Iowa Doodles 2 Love. She will come to our home during her heat cycle for breeding, and then back home to you. She will remain with you throughout her pregnancy and come back to us during her delivery and until the puppies are weaned. Once she has had ALL her litters she will be spayed at our expense per agreement and she will retire with you at no additional fee. 

We UNDERSTAND this is difficult for families to have their girl gone for an extended amount of time. We encourage and welcome families to visit often with scheduled visits while she is with us.

If you are a guardian home for a male stud; your life will be much easier. Once he passes his reproductive testing there will be times when natural breeding is required, and he will need to come to our home during that process. We also will be working with Canine Semen Bank. They will collect semen from the stud that we can freeze to use at a later date for breeding purposes through Artificial Insemination. Once we have determined we have used him to the fullest potential for our breeding program we will notify you. At that time; he will be neutered at our expense per agreement and he will retire with you at no additional fee. Males are used much longer 6-7 yrs. 

If you are a Guardian for one of our females you will be compensated $300 litter once her puppies go home. You are welcome to schedule a visit while she is with us and play with the puppies!

As a Guardian Home you will be required to pay for the everyday expenses of owning a dog including annual exams, vaccines, food, etc. We will pay for all breeding related costs including health testing. Becoming a Guardian Home is not for everyone. You MUST be willing and able to follow these requirements:

-Have previous experience with dogs.

-Be willing to teach basic commands such as sit, stay, lay-down, no, and leave it. Be willing to socialize puppies. This is very important! He/She must be an indoor pet and never left unattended outside.

-Feed a premium, quality food. All other dogs in the home MUST be fixed if they are the opposite sex.

-Provide regular exercise.

-Willing to let us, the breeder, visit your home.

-Contact Breeder immediately in the event of a serious illness or accident.

-Send a copy of all vet visits to Breeder.

-Must not allow he/she to mate with any unapproved dogs.

-Provide veterinary care when needed.

-If you are a guardian for a female dog: you must be willing to drop her off for 1-2 weeks while she is bred. Then drop her back off 1 week prior to her whelping date. She will stay with us until the puppies are weaned.

-If you are a guardian for a male dog, you must be willing to drop him off for 3-5 days for breedings unless arrangements are made ahead of time for us to pick him up. Sometimes we are able to come to you for a breeding so you must be able to meet with us.

-Be able to communicate with us, the breeder, about scheduling testing, mating, whelping, and anything else breeding related.
