Generational Info

F1-First generation which is a Golden Retriever crossed with a poodle, the female of the pair can be either a golden or a poodle and the male is the opposing breed. F1 generation pups can be mild shedding, the tighter the curls on the coat the less shedding (typically). (50% Golden and 50% poodle)

F1B-backcross generation this is a Goldendoodle crossed with a poodle, the female can be either goldendoodle or poodle and the male is the opposing breed. F1b generation pups are typically very low shedding as they are 75% poodle however there can also be a more poodle look to these offspring. (75% Poodle and 25% Golden)

F1BB-backcross generation this is a Goldendoodle crossed with a poodle (87.5% Poodle and 12.5% Golden). It is a cross between an F1b Goldendoodle (75% Poodle, 25% Golden and a purebred 100% Poodle or 100% Golden. The F1BB is the MOST hypoallergenic and non-shedding of all first generation Goldendoodles due to the large amount of pool genetics.

F2-second generation meaning a goldendoodle crossed with a goldendoodle. F2 basically has 4 possibilities, the 2 golden grandparents or the 2 poodle grandparents, the F1 generation parent can carry traits from either of their parent breeds so these pups may tend to have a more golden retriever coat or a more poodle coat depending on the traits that are carried on. The most variation in genes is found in this generation. (50% F1 and 50% F1). Unpredictable coats.

F2B- backcross generation. Cross between an F1 and an F1b generation.  F1 goldendoodle crossed with an F1b goldendoodle creates this.

Multigen- Cross of an F1 or higher bred to an F1b or higher generation
